The Bachelor of Science in Renal Dialysis Technology is a four-year undergraduate degree program designed to prepare competent, knowledgeable, and skilled dialysis technologists capable of supporting the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of patients with acute and chronic kidney disease. The program responds to a pressing national and global need: the rising burden of renal failure has outpaced the availability of formally trained technologists, leaving a critical gap in the dialysis workforce. Built on a strong foundation in the basic medical sciences, the curriculum progresses into specialized study of renal physiology, dialysis technology, water treatment and machine operation, vascular access, and the management of dialysis-related complications, culminating in extensive supervised clinical training within advanced dialysis setups in tertiary care hospitals. Delivery combines a structured, progressive curriculum with experienced faculty and modern teaching methods, including video-based demonstrations and hands-on laboratory practice, ensuring that theoretical understanding is consistently translated into safe, competent bedside performance. Alongside technical mastery, the program develops the professional attitudes, ethical values, communication skills, and basic research literacy essential to contemporary healthcare practice. Graduates emerge equipped to contribute effectively to patient care, technical services, and healthcare education in dialysis units, transplant centers, nephrology departments, and the renal technology industry, both within Pakistan and internationally, while also holding the academic grounding required for postgraduate study in allied health and renal sciences.

Programming Learning Outcomes:

The Bachelor of Science in Renal Dialysis Technology is a four-year undergraduate degree program designed to prepare competent, knowledgeable, and skilled dialysis technologists to support the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases.
The program provides students with a strong foundation in basic medical sciences along with specialized training in renal physiology, dialysis technology, and clinical practice.
The program aims to produce highly qualified dialysis professionals through a structured curriculum, experienced faculty, modern teaching methods including video-based demonstrations, and extensive supervised clinical training in advanced dialysis setups.
Graduates will be equipped with the technical, clinical, and professional skills required to contribute effectively to patient care, technical services, and healthcare education at both national and international levels.

Program Outcomes:

Upon completion of the Bachelor of Science in Renal Dialysis Technology program, the graduates will be able to:

Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of renal and dialysis sciences, both in their fundamental concepts and in their application in healthcare institutions.
Apply relevant professional knowledge, technical skills, and ethical values in clinical practice.
Perform dialysis procedures in different dialysis setups in tertiary care hospitals.
Demonstrate positive attitudes and professional behavior toward all personnel and patients.
Apply basic research skills to understand and conduct research.
Use English language, computer, and communication skills effectively in professional settings.

Eligibility

Candidates with HSSC (Pre-Medical) or A-Levels with equivalency certificate from IBCC Islamabad with at least 50% marks are eligible to apply.
Candidate with Diploma in relevant field with at least 50% marks in annual system or 2.00 CGPA on the scale of 4.00 in semester system with equivalency certificate from IBCC Islamabad are eligible to apply.
Candidates will have to appear in an entry test to be conducted by any registered Testing Agency or University.
Candidates will appear in an interview to be conducted by the University.
