Department of Library & Information Sciences

Established in 2012, the Library and Information Science (LIS) Department has rapidly evolved into a pioneering academic unit. We currently offer Associate Degree (AD), Bachelor of Science (BS-LIS), Master of Science (MS), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) programs. Proudly, we were the first department to initiate an MS program in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. 
Continuing our tradition of excellence and leadership, we have received HEC NOC to launch the Ph.D program. SUIT is now first University in Peshawar and second in KP to offer Ph.D program from next semester, once again positioning itself as the foremost department in the province to offer this advanced level of education.
To further strengthen the department and enhance academic and professional growth, we regularly organize national and international conferences, workshops, seminars, and other scholarly events. These initiatives provide valuable learning opportunities, foster collaboration, and keep our faculty and students at the forefront of the evolving field of Library and Information Science.

The Department envisions a society in which library and information professionals design and manage systems and services that benefit individuals, groups, communities and organizations.
