The Ph.D. programme in Library and Information Science is an advanced research degree designed to prepare scholars capable of extending the frontiers of knowledge in the organisation, management, and use of information. Situated at the intersection of information systems, technology, and society, the programme combines rigorous coursework with sustained independent research, enabling scholars to critically examine information services, policies, and institutions in a rapidly evolving digital environment. It develops mastery of research design, methodology, and data analytics alongside deep engagement with information literacy, digital libraries, human information behaviour, and the social, cultural, and ethical dimensions of information systems. Through original doctoral research culminating in a dissertation, the programme aims to produce independent, ethically grounded researchers and academic leaders who contribute meaningfully to the discipline, to professional practice, and to the information needs of society.
