The Bachelor of Science in Library & Information Sciences is a four-year degree program that prepares students to manage, organize, and facilitate access to information in a variety of settings. The curriculum covers library management, cataloging and classification, information retrieval systems, digital libraries, research methods, and emerging technologies in information science. Students gain practical experience through internships and hands-on training with library software and digital tools. BS Library & Information Sciences graduates are equipped to support education, research, and knowledge sharing. Career opportunities include roles as librarians, information specialists, archivists, knowledge managers, and documentation officers in academic institutions, public libraries, research centers, and corporate organizations.

Program Educational Objectives (PEO’s):

Students will be able to studies concentration, prepares and to work as para professionals and provisional librarians in a variety of settings, including public libraries.

It introduces students to the exciting world of information management and information transfer, in both traditional and emerging venues.

Program Outcomes:

An understanding of Professional management of institutions providing access to information and information services

A knowledge of International knowledge management

A modern knowledge of Strategic development of innovative information services

Assessment and implementation of target group-specific subject indexing of information resources

Assessment and development of solutions for the optimization of information processes

An ability to use current Library and information policy skills

An ability to use Classification, assessment and anticipation of informational developments in the context of social and media-related developments

An ability to participate in professional discussions on current developments based on scientifically sound knowledge and specific practical experience

Eligibility

  • 4 Years: Candidates holding Intermediate certificate with at least 45% marks or A-Levels with equivalency certificate from IBCC Islamabad or an equivalent certificate from a recognized institution are eligible to apply.
  • 2 Years: Candidates holding Associate Degree in relevant discipline with at least 45% marks or 2.00 CGPA on the scale of 4.00 from a recognized institution are eligible to apply. The scheme from 5th till 8th Semester will be followed.
  • 2.5 Years: Candidates holding Bachelor degree (14 years of education) with at least 45% marks or 2.00 CGPA on the scale of 4.00 from a recognized institution are eligible to apply. After Bridge Semester, the scheme from 5th till 8th Semester will be followed.
  • Candidates will be required to pass an entry test or an aptitude interview conducted by the university.

Procedure to Apply In-Person

  • Visit the Admission Office located at the Main Campus in Peshawar.
  • Obtain the Admission Form from the Admission Office.
  • Carefully and accurately complete all sections of the Admission Form.
  • Attach all the required documents and submit the form at the Admission Office.

Procedure to Apply Online

  1. Visit the website: form.suit.edu.pk.
  2. Sign up on the Online Admission Portal by providing the required information.
  3. Sign in to your account using the credentials you created during sign-up.
  4. Browse through the available programs and select the one you wish to apply for.
  5. Fill in your personal details accurately.
  6. Provide all necessary educational information.
  7. Upload clear and readable copies of the required documents.
  8. Download and print the Admission Processing Fee Challan.
  9. Submit the fee at your nearest JS Bank Branch (branch details are available on the portal).
  10. Upload a copy of the paid fee receipt to the portal.
  11. Carefully preview all the entered information and documents.
  12. Submit your application once you are sure everything is correct.
