The Bachelor of Studies in English Language & Literature is a four-year degree program that explores the richness of the English language through the study of classical and contemporary literature, linguistics, and critical theory. The program aims at developing learners' ability to critically read and analyze linguistics and literary texts in their historical, socio political, cultural and philosophical contexts combined with aesthetic pleasure and intellectual stimulation. Emphasis is on literary expression (poetry, prose, novel, drama, non- fiction) as well as linguistic and rhetorical skills through frequent reading and writing assignments, and class discussions.
The students will have profound knowledge of the techniques of textual analysis.
The students will be competent to adequately express themselves by oral and written communication.
The students will have profound knowledge of the key concepts in English language and literature.
The students will be able to critically explore major schools of literacy, criticism and theory.
The graduates will be able to conduct both qualitative and quantitative research in the fields of English literature and Linguistics.
