Program overview

The Bachelor of Studies in Urdu is a four-year degree program that provides an in-depth study of the Urdu language, literature, and cultural heritage. The curriculum includes classical and modern Urdu poetry, prose, literary criticism, linguistics, and the history of Urdu literature. Students develop advanced reading, writing, and analytical skills while exploring the rich traditions and evolving trends of Urdu literature. The program prepares graduates for careers in education, media, publishing, and translation. Career opportunities include roles as Urdu teachers, content writers, editors, translators, journalists, and researchers in educational institutions, publishing houses, media outlets, and cultural organizations.

Eligibility

4 Years: Candidates holding an Intermediate certificate (or A-Level with IBCC equivalency) with at least 45% marks from a recognized board/institution are eligible to apply.
2.5 Years: Candidates holding an AD in Urdu (Associate Degree in Urdu, 2 years) with at least 2.00/4.00 CGPA from a recognized university are eligible to apply. After completing the 5th–8th semester scheme, the degree is awarded.
2 Years: Candidates holding an Associate Degree in a relevant discipline with at least 45% marks (annual system) or 2.00/4.00 CGPA (semester system) from a recognized institution are eligible to apply. After the Bridge Semester, the scheme from the 5th till 8th Semester will be followed.
Candidates will be required to pass an entry test or an aptitude interview conducted by the university.

Program Objectives and Program Outcomes

Program Objectives :

انسان کے ذاتی خیالات، افکار، تصورات اور جذبات و احساسات کے باہمی اظہار کا بہترین ذریعہ زبان ہے۔ زبان پر کامل عبور کے بغیر یہ مقاصد حاصل نہیں ہو سکتے۔ طلباء کو اس قابل بنانا کہ وہ مسلسل، رواں اور لائقِ فہم گفتگو کر سکیں۔

اُردو زبان و ادب کے ذریعے طلباء میں حصولِ علم کا جذبہ پیدا کرنا تاکہ وہ ملک و قوم کے لیے مفید شہری ثابت ہوں۔

اُردو زبان کا دائرہ صرف ادب تک محدود نہیں، اس میں تاریخ، جغرافیہ، سیاسیات، شماریات، اقتصادیات، طب، ارضیات اور محاسبات، بلکہ عصرِ حاضر کے تمام علوم و فنون کا اظہار ہو رہا ہے اور ہو سکتا ہے۔ لہٰذا طلباء کو اس قابل بنانا کہ وہ جب اپنی عملی زندگی کا آغاز کریں تو مذکورہ علوم کا اپنی قومی زبان میں اظہار کر سکیں۔

Program Outcomes:

طلباء بی ایس اُردو کی ڈگری کے حصول کے بعد اپنی پیشہ ورانہ صلاحیتوں کا اظہار قومی اور نجی اداروں میں کر سکیں گے، جن میں شعبۂ تعلیم (تدریس) اور نشریاتی ادارے (ریڈیو، ٹیلی ویژن، اخبارات) خصوصی طور پر شامل ہیں۔

طلباء میں نہ صرف قومی خدمت کا جذبہ پیدا ہو گا، بلکہ باعزت اور اچھے روزگار کی وجہ سے ان کی معاشی ضروریات بھی پوری ہو سکیں گی۔

طلباء ادب پارے کو پڑھ کر اس کا فکری و فنی جائزہ لے سکیں گے۔

کسی بھی زبان کا ادب اس خطے کی تہذیب، ثقافت اور اقدار کا نمائندہ ہوتا ہے۔ لہٰذا اُردو کی تدریس کے ذریعے طالب علموں کو اپنی اقدار اور ثقافت سے روشناس کرانا بھی پیشِ نظر ہے۔

طلباء کو اُردو زبان و ادب اور اس کی تاریخ سے آگاہ کرنا۔

اُردو کی مختلف نثری، منظوم اصناف اور دیگر طرزِ زبان کو پڑھ کر ان میں امتیاز، استحسان اور تنقید کر سکیں۔
