After the struggle of more than two years, the SarhadUniversity, Peshawar is able to get license for educational TV Channel from PEMRA, Islamabad on 27 th September, 2022. The Chairman, PEMRA, Mr. Muhammad SaleemBaig handed over the license to Mr. Muhammad Nasir, Registrar, Sarhad University, Peshawar.
The Director General (Licensing Broadcast), Engr. Wakeel Khan, Director (Licensing), PEMRA, Mr. Tariq Mahmood and other high ranking officials of PEMRA were also present on the occasion.
Sarhad University, Peshawar is the first Private Sector University of the country, which succeeded to get satellite TV license for educational purposes. The channel will be launched in a shortperiod. Recorded lectures and other teaching material will be broadcast on the channel round the clock, with repeat transmissionof 12 hours on daily basis.
This will benefit the students of Distance Education Program of the University, who are living in far flung areas of the country, and are unable to join the mainstream student community. This will also be facility for youth of the country; pursing their education in other Universities to see lectures of their choice, recorded by the renowned educationists of the country. The channel will be aired on Free to Air (FTA) basis, and will be available to all those who want to see its transmission through satellite dish antenna.
The transmission will also be available in the nearby countries of Afghanistan, Gulf States, Iran, Bangladesh and in all those countries, where transmission through PAKSAT is seen.
