The KP Governor and Patron of Sarhad University of Science & Information Technology, Peshawar has said that since 1947, we have been in the struggle to bless our coming generations with ornament of education. Lately, the Private Sector also joined hands with Govt. in this noble cause and it has become an equal partner in this respect.
The Governor lauded the achievements made by the University over the past 21 years. He congratulated the University management and faculty for maintaining quality academic standards. He also congratulated the recipients of Gold Medals and degrees and their parents. He was addressing on the eve of 15th Convocation of Sarhad University, Peshawar, held in a local hotel here today.
The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Salim-ur-Rehman, Vice Chancellor, SUIT, a large number of graduating students, their parents, Academicians, faculty and students of the University. While presenting the address of welcome, the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Salim-ur-Rehman, highlighted the achievements of the University obtained in the last 21 years since its inception. He said that University has established so far five faculties, 15 departments and 4 institutes, the current strength of the students is 5000, whereas the number of passed out graduates has been reached to 25000.
He was of the view that last year, the University launched programs of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, which has gained much popularity. He said it will go a long way in producing qualified health professionals for the country.
All the programs of the University are duly accredited and recognized by the concerned regulatory councils; which include Pakistan Engineering Council, Pharmacy Council of Pakistan, Pakistan Nursing Council and National Technology Council, and others, he added. Dr. Salim ur Rehman further said that research is the integral part of the University and in order to produce qualified researchers, almost all the departments of the University have successfully launched their M.Phil and PhD Programs.
The University is actively engaged in carrying out Sports activities, co-curricular and extra-curricular events. Every year, he said, a large number of University students take part in Sports activities within and outside the University, as well as in the Sports competitions, conducted by HEC at National Level. He said that graduates of University are playing their positive role in the development of the country and serving different departments at National level.
In all 103 degrees were awarded to the students, which included 2 PhD, 8 MS/M.Phil, 40 Masters and 53 Bachelors while 1500 degrees were conferred on the students in absentia. Later on, the Vice Chancellor presented University souvenir to the Chief Guest.
