SUIT holds Flag hoisting Ceremony on Pakistan Independence Day

In order to celebrate 77th Independence Day of Pakistan with national zeal and fervor, a simple but graceful ceremony related to flag hoisting was held at Sarhad University of Science & Information Technology, Peshawar in collaboration with Higher Education Department and Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HERA), Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar on Wednesday morning.

Prof. Dr. Salim-ur-Rehman, Vice-Chancellor, SUIT was the Chief Guest of the Ceremony, who hoisted the national flag to mark the celebrations of the Independence Day.

A large number of faculty members, their families and students participated in the ceremony.

Owing to their other commitments at Provincial level, the Secretary, Higher Education Department, Chairman and Secretary, HERA, sent their special messages on this occasion.

In their special messages, they urged the students to focus on their studies to play their due role for the progress and development of the country.

While addressing the audience, the Vice Chancellor said that Pakistan needs concerted efforts from all segments of society for its rapid growth.The teachers and students, he said, are on top of this list. He said Independence is an invaluable blessing from Allah Almighty and we all need to protect it. He stressed upon the students to work more hard to excel in their relevant field of studies, so that our beloved country may get a reputable position in the comity of the nations.

He was of the view that mere education and study is not enough to build students' personality, rather co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are also essential for them.

He gave the example of ArshadNadeem, the Pakistani Gold Medalist of Paris-24 Olympics, who brought laurels and distinction to the country due to his hard work, commitment and professionalism. 

Later on, a cake cutting ceremony was also held in the Campus.
