As per its Charter, the University has a mandate to offer education through distant/virtual means of education. The program was launched in 2002, which is duly approved by the Higher Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is registered with the Higher Education Regulatory Authority, KP and recognized by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.

Through this program, well established educational institutions located across the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, AJK, Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad Capital Territory have been registered to operate as Distance Education Centres (DECs) as well as Facilitation Centres for the students enrolled through DE program.

The Governments of Baluchistan and KP have also granted NOCs to launch Distance Education Program in the major cities of Baluchistan and newly merged FATA districts, respectively, which will soon be materialized.

I am pleased to record my message for the Distance Education Program of the University. I must say that Sarhad University has an outstanding national and international reputation, imparting quality education to a large number of students in various fields of learning, earning HEC’s highest rating of excellence for Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy, Biological Sciences, health-related programs, Computer Science, Management Science and Social Sciences, through traditional way of teaching as well as distant mode of education. Distance Education Program of the University, launched in 2002 with the permission of Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, registered with the Higher Education Regulatory Authority, KP and duly recognized by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, is one of the praise worthy initiatives of the University.

Initially, it was launched only in KP and Islamabad Capital Territory, but later on provinces of Sindh, AJK, and Gilgit-Baltistan were also added to the program. Governments of Baluchistan and KP have also granted NoCs to launch DE program in the major cities of Baluchistan and newly merged districts of FATA. The initiative is duly endorsed by the HEC and will soon be materialized.

Since its inception, the University has passed through numerous ups and downs, but with the grace of Almighty Allah, and untiring efforts of the management and faculty, we not only successfully overcome the obstacles and hurdles in our way, but also kept the University on the path of progress and development.

Today our graduates are effectively serving various Multi-National Companies and Organizations at Provincial and National level in different capacities, whereas many joined foreign universities for higher studies, the university is striving to provide relevant and purposeful education to its existing students preparing them to confront challenges in this competitive world. Sarhad University is not just addressing the issues of professional environment such as purpose-build campus, air-conditioned classrooms, and well equipped laboratories but, more importantly, it is concentrating on the most critical issues like faculty development, curricula tailored to latest innovations and present-day demands, quality enhancement, effective teaching and evaluation and character building.

I assure that the Distance Education Centers of Sarhad University will try their level best to disseminate quality education at the doorsteps of the prospective students throughout Pakistan. In the year to come, I foresee Sarhad University in the top ranking Universities in Pakistan and wish a glaring future to it.

Media Section:

In order to record Video Lectures for onward provision to the registered students through its Distance Education Centers, the University has established eight well-equipped Video Lectures Recording Studios. The video lectures recorded by the Faculty members are edited in the Media Section by the Editing Staff. The concerned faculty members are then assigned to review their lectures and make necessary corrections in therein. The reviewed/edited lectures of a particular course are forwarded to the respective HoDs for their expert opinion. After having their expert opinion, the Media Section then forwards the Lectures to LMS Section for uploading on the LMS and You tube channels of the University for facilitation of the students.

LMS Section:

The University also have a customized MOODLE based Learning Management System (LMS) that is continuously populated by the LMS Section of the University. Minimum features of functional Learning Management System (LMS) required for Virtual Instructions are available. The videos are received from Media Section and are uploaded on Student Portal. LMS section is also responsible to upload other learning material (in form of MS word, pdf & ppt files). User names and passwords for registered students are created accordingly enabling them to access teaching material uploaded by the University on the LMS. Assignments received from DECs are also populated on LMS by the same section.
