Soil Mechanics is an important branch of civil engineering that contributes to the understanding of Soil behavior. Laboratory testing forms an integral part of the studies required to provide engineering parameters in the design of building and bridge foundations, dams, road and airfield pavements, tunnels, embankments and slopes. Our soil mechanics laboratory is well equipped with latest apparatus and provides students with all facilities required to deepen their understanding of the principles governing soil engineering properties and behavior.

In field of Engineering like Civil & Mechanical Engineering Fluid Mechanics laboratory plays a vital & important role. Department of Civil Engineering SUIT, has well equipped & established Fluid Mechanics laboratory. The Machines, Apparatus & Instruments exist here in this Lab are modern, latest and are in working condition. Minor and major tests involve in this lab are perform according to recommended standards here. Detailed manual also exist here for each experiment to get help for seekers. This Lab covers practical background of students to explore and investigate academics practically. Students of MS, BS, and M.Tech & B.Tech are beneficiary of mentioned lab by conducting experiments to capture experimental data for their academics as well as Final Projects. This Lab is under the supervision of Engr Khurram Saleem. Two Lab Engr also available here to guide students about test procedures, recommendations & precautions etc

The Concrete laboratory’s testing and research capacity has expanded from year-to-year, as has the diversity of the test services offered. From the beginning, the lab’s primary focus has been to study the strength and durability of construction and road building materials. By continuously expanding the capabilities, the lab is equipped to carry out destructive as well as non-destructive tests to study the durability of aggregates, rocks, soil, concrete, and cement samples. At our PEC accredited test facility, we undertake analysis and testing of a wide range of raw materials and finished products to a variety of national, European and ASTM standards. The Lab is working under the supervision of Engr. Sajjad Ali and Lab Engineer Engr. Sida Hussain.

Material Testing Lab is one of the most important labs in the field of civil engineering. Civil Engineering Department of SUIT, Peshawar has the privilege of having this lab, which is fully equipped with latest machines worth mentioning the Computerized Hydraulic Universal Testing Machine. This lab is capable of performing compressive strength test of concrete and clay bricks, splitting tensile strength test of concrete cylinder, tensile strength test of steel bars, tensile strength test of concrete beams and many more. Material Testing Lab works under the supervision of Engr. Adil Shehzad (Lab In charge) and Engr. Numan Zahid (Lab Engineer).

Survey lab is one of the most essential and important labs in field of civil engineering which provides basic concepts to the students regarding different types of survey. To cope with the need of modern techniques and requirements surveying lab of civil engineering department SUIT Peshawar is fully equipped comprises of best quality surveying instruments worth mentioning Total stations, Theodolites, Auto levels, compasses, GPS and many other advanced instruments to work on different techniques of surveying to perform different types of land survey like levelling, traversing, contouring, plain tabling, fly levelling and road survey etc. Survey lab in civil engineering department SUIT Peshawar works under the supervision of Prof Engr Fazal e Khaliq Jan and lab engineer Engr Salman Khan.

Environmental Engineering Lab helps in the prevention of pollution as air and water testing is carried out in the lab. Because of these tests, various suggestions can be proposed in order to reduce the environmental pollution. The purpose of environmental engineering lab is to make the students aware of the dangerous effects of polluting the environment. With the help of these tests, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Pakistan can keep control on the hazardous emissions by any industry and can protect health of common man. Department of Civil Engineering , SUIT has the perfect equipment to deal with the latest testing. Engr. Shahab Ahmad is the Lab In-charge while Engr. Wisal Khan is the Lab-Engineer of the Environmental Lab.

The Highway Engineering Laboratory of Civil Engineering department is a research laboratory equipped to conduct standard tests for asphalt pavement design and paving materials for undergraduate & graduate teaching, as well as advanced research oriented experiments for assessing the engineering properties and behavior of new paving materials. It is equipped with the main apparatus needed for highway materials, which include asphalt mix tests for the surface, base and sub-base. Also, the laboratory contains all equipment needed for Aggregate Testing, Asphalt Testing, Mix Design Testing, Roughness and skid resistance, Traffic counting and traffic speed investigations. Lab is running under the supervision of Engr Fazli Karim with Lab Engr Sameer Mufti
