Mass Education Methodology

In this method of Mass Education Program teachers and students are sitting at distance. Teaching material is normally dispatched through postal services. Students get roll number and registration from university admission department. Whereas, fee is deposited through HBL nominated bank branches through online facilities student are catered. University takes care of administrative affairs and has the responsibility of issuing degree and disseminating information about degree and result. The teaching material is composed of easy and understandable language. For student’s guidance, different exercises and assignment are given to evaluate their performance. Strenuous and arduous efforts are made to enable students by making it easy to study without any external support and help. The reading material is divided into various units and chapters. Usually in single unit or chapter one topic is discussed. From one unit or chapter means completing one unit in 12 hours. At local level tutors are also provided for student assistance and guidance. These tutors are available in specific dates for student support and guidance. During the course student is in contact and having liaison with the tutor. This contact is also strengthening at workshop and during correspondence level.

FACULTY

The University has acquired the services of a highly competent faculty largely with foreign qualification from the renowned universities of the world. Even the visiting faculty members are selected on merit keeping in view of the quality aspects of the University degree programs. Access to the HEC Digital Library enables the faculty to remain abreast with the latest developments in their fields of interest. Faculty members are encouraged to attend national and international professional and academic meetings. Faculty members are also encouraged to undertake research and consultancy. Fortunately, the University is situated in a major city of Pakistan. This is beneficial for the faculty as well as the students to establish inter-university and university-industry relationships. Many of our faculty members are on the HEC ’s National Curriculum Review Committees.

LIBRARY

Managed by qualified librarian & friendly staff, the University library is an excellent educational resource for enhancement of knowledge. It provides a wide range of materials to help the students in their academic pursuits. The library is stocked with 30000 titles. Subscription to a large number of Journals, Periodicals and Magazines provides the students an opportunity to remain current about the latest trends in education and research. Access to the HEC Digital Library is a vast recourse of advance knowledge covering over 23,000 international Journals/Periodicals and 40000 e-books.

CONFERENCES, WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS

At Sarhad University, Peshawar, lectures by eminent scholars/professionals are a matter of routine. Experts/executives from different fields are invited to the Campus to share their experiences with students. The faculty and senior students of the University are also required to give presentations of academic and /or general nature. University recently held an International Conference on Policy Dynamics and Workshop on Entrepreneurship.

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT

SUIT fully realizes the significance of competence and dedication of faculty in the success of a university. For this reason, faculty members are encouraged to participate in academic activities (conferences, workshops, long/short courses, research Projects, etc), Funds are allocated to support the faculty participation in such activities nationally as well as internationally. The focus on faculty development has several positive results, notably in teaching, research, designing of modern curricula, and development of international contacts.

CLASSROOMS

The spacious, air-conditioned, well lit, class rooms are the hallmark of the University. These are equipped with modern teaching aids, furniture and fixture. Classroom interactions are used for providing comprehensive education and training. This enables the students to enhance their professional skills and foster global and strategic thinking. The classroom instructions at Sarhad University are reinforced through extensive relevant case studies and group discussions/projects.

LABORATORIES

The University has several laboratories in Engineering, Pharmacy and Computer Science Departments. All laboratories are provided with latest equipment and educational aids to foster knowledge in a systematic way. Experiments & case studies are designed by the faculty members in consultation with experts from industry, business and prospective employers. Interaction with industry, business and government organizations is a constant endeavor of the University

Once such an effort matures, students will be able to spend some time and learn at the premises, of the partner university.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES 

The quality of the University environment is an essential ingredient in the academic success of a student’s life. The University encourages students to take part in co-curricular and extra curricular activities. Our Student Support Department concentrates on recreation and exploring talent of the students by providing means of sports, cultural and stage performances during each semester. Creative writing and debating is a part of intellectual activities at the University. Students enjoy leisure trips to tourist spots and hill-stations of the country. To discover and foster sports talent, the University encourages participation in football, athletics, cricket, badminton, table tennis, volleyball, chess, basketball, etc. Lately the University participated in all universities Declamation Contest and Sports Gala arranged by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.

TRANSPORT

The University provides local transport facility to its students. Further details about this facility and the plying routes of transport can be obtained from the concerned office.

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

Faculty members are involved full-time in tackling real-world problems. Students are encouraged earlier on to benefit from such research activities through participation, and publication of their work. The University intends to soon establish an R&D facility. It shall house latest journals, software and high-end computers. Involvement in industry/ commerce-related research and development activities enhances their chances to get sponsorship from the relevant industry. The R&D Cell at Sarhad University would, therefore, act as a repository of unsolved research problems.High bandwidth, Internet facility, high-end computer lab coupled with diversified R&D interests of the faculty make it a very conducive environment for original work.

ACADEMIC COUNSELING AND GUIDANCE

At the time of induction, the students are guided by the Admissions Office. Later, the Admissions Committee, comprising selected faculty members from the concerned faculties provide the much needed guidance to the freshmen. At the end of each semester, students who do not show up-to-the-mark progress are provided the opportunity to decide their future course of action in a Faculty Board meeting presided over by the concerned Dean/ HOD. Achievable yet challenging targets are set for the students with their consent and their progress is regularly monitored. Failure of the students in meeting such targets renders them ineligible for continuation of their studies at SUIT.

CAREER COUNSELING AND PLACEMENT

The An office has been set up to arrange internships for students and placement of the University graduates in the public and private sectors. It holds regular meetings with the students and graduates and guide them about their choice and preferences for job. Various Chambers of Commerce and Industries have also been approached and their assistance sought in this regard. Today, the graduates of Sarhad University are serving in various national/multinational companies, banks, software houses and other organizations of repute. We optimistically anticipate increased demand for Sarhad University graduates amongst prospective employers, including multi-nationals and other prestigious organizations of all sizes. SUIT is expanding its links with the industries and the commercial sector by nominating and recommending its graduates to local industry, multi-national companies, financial institutions, and public sector organizations. On campus interviews by the interested industries/ organizations are being contemplated.

Fee Concession/Scholarships:

TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAMS THROUGH DISTANCE EDUCATION MODE (CORRESPONDENCE PROGRAM )

Education is indispensable and integral part of development and to perform responsibilities and endeavors in society. Due to population explosion, scarce resources and limited opportunities, the demand of distance education mode has eagerly and enthusiastically felt. Keeping in view the demand and supply equilibrium Sarhad University of Science and Information Technology has introduced one of its eminent and renowned Teacher Education Programs through distance mode considering fully equipped with latest system of distance education requirement.

The initiation of this program is to prepare and provide such education which enables the stipulation of education meeting the requirement of 21 century. According to this education system the students are endowed with education bearing in mind modern technology. The modern mechanism of education includes books, lectures, tutors, reading material, workshop, multimedia, etc. In the light and luminosity of modern technology new methods and techniques are introduced.

During its inauguration and origination the Distance Education mode started with single discipline of B.Ed but later on after successful trail and test case it expanded and extended its Programs into CT, B.Ed, M.Ed and MA Education. It is unanimously approved in current meeting of Mass Education Department senior staff considered further extension of other disciplines: Associate Degree in Education (ADE), BA, B.Sc, BLIS, MLIS and B.Com will be inaugurated and initiated in its coming semesters.

The scope of Distance Education Program through Correspondence immensely making its pavement towards broaden its spectrum of various disciplines inclusive of CT, B.Ed, M.Ed, MA Education, B.A, B.Sc, BLIS, MLIS and B.Com that would not end and further advances and heighten considering market demand and market niche based on demand and supply factors.

Commencement of Admission

The admission procedure of Programs is divided into two semesters of spring and fall. The spring semester commences from 5th January every year and lasts up to 6th February extendable and stretchable. Fall semester begins from 5th August 05 and ends on 6th September with possible extension. Fee for different disciplines is described in chronological order.

A MoU between Sarhad University and Habib Bank Limited was signed where it was mutually decided that bank will facilitate students of Sarhad University. It is basically teachers training program. In this certificate of teaching, teacher’s competencies and capabilities are refined and groomed which enable them to teach the children of grade six to eight by providing and delivering quality education.

Aims and Objectives

1. The teacher should enhance their professional capabilities and competencies to that extend to facilitate the students effectively

2. For basic education at national level personality development and preparation of quality teacher is pre requisite.

3. Keeping and considering the preliminary level of children age and interest, preparation of such teacher who has command over teaching methodology is aimed.

 

Eligibility Criteria

1. In F.A, F.Sc has acquired minimum 40% marks are qualified.

2. With higher education B.A, B.Sc, MA, M.Sc passed in any division is eligible.

3. Tribe Areas and FATA resident are eligible with F.A, F.Sc passed in any division essential to provide domicile necessary to qualify.

4. All those meet the above criteria can submit first semester fee of Rs. 7500/- in cheque or demand draft or pay order or through nominated bank branch of HBL.

5. For next semester fee, the University will send “Continuing Admission Form” which has to be filled along with deposit Rs. 7500/- demand draft or pay order or online service of HBL designated bank branches.

Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) Program

Bachelor of Education Program is introduced to teach grade nine and ten students by emphasizing to enhance their competencies and abilities to effectively teach the secondary school students.

 Aims & Objectives

1. In Sarhad University B.Ed level program is launched to those students who sought to start their career in teaching or associated with any educational institution.

2. Sarhad University has designed its B.Ed program in such a way to promote ideological understanding, practical experience and personal development.

3. B.Ed program one of specific understanding objective is to prepare students considering quality education and confident teachers who are helpful for future generation.

4. Its main aim is that besides class room management and administration teacher should fully understand children psychology and apply this in teaching learning process.

 

Admission Criteria

1.Second division in B.A, B.Sc, BBA and B.Com with minimum 40% is eligibility and qualifying criteria.

2. In case of Higher education MA, M.Sc in any division is eligible.

3. FATA, and Tribal Areas students hold B.A, B.Sc in any division qualify the criteria provided to ascertain domicile of tribal area.

4. All those who qualify the above criteria can submit Rs. 9000/- as demand draft or pay order in the name of Sarhad University, Islamabad or any nominated bank of HBL.

5. Promotion in next semester, the university will send “Continuing Admission Form” to properly  fill and make demand draft, pay order or deposit Rs. 9000/- in any designated branch of HBL.

B.Ed Program consists of 36 credit hours has two semesters. In this program nine subjects of three credit hours are compulsory and one optional subject of three credit hours along with six credit hours teaching practice or workshop is included. The detail bifurcation is given below.

Master in Education (M. Ed) Program

M. Ed is higher degree. It is designed with objective to inculcate and induce professional eligibility, competencies, capabilities to teach along with administrative and research capacities.

Aims and Objectives:

1. To create and develop awareness about education and learning in order to perform effective teaching services and practices.

2. In educational system new concepts and latest methodology has to be employed and utilized to provide quality education in the field of teaching.

3. To create awareness and enlighten regarding up to date curriculum, teaching methodologies & techniques and teaching strategy.

4. To inculcate technical competencies about student and class room management.

Admission Criteria

1. B.Ed with 40 % marks is eligible.

2. Student of FATA, Tribal Areas has to provide B.Ed in any division provided to facilitate with domicile is mandatory.

3. Those who fulfill the above eligibility criteria, deposit Rs. 9500/- demand draft, pay order in the name of Sarhad University Islamabad or any designated bank of HBL.

4. In next semester the university will send “Continuing Admission Form”, deposit Rs.8500/- in demand draft, pay order or from HBL nominated branches  through challan form which will be attached with continuing form.

Master of Arts in Education (M.A Edu) Program

This is teacher’s higher degree in Teacher training. It is designed that teacher should enhance professional eligible along with administrative and creative capabilities.

Aims & Objectives

1. To crate awareness among teachers regarding education and learning to serve effective teaching practices.

2. In educational system new concepts, latest methodology and teaching practice has to be utilized and employed in order to generate and maintain standard presented among teachers.

3. To create awareness about latest curriculum teaching methodology and teaching strategy.

4. To teach effective and efficient technical competencies regarding students and class room management.

 

Admission Criteria

1. One has B.A, B.Sc with minimum 40% marks obtained, qualified for admission.

2. Students with higher qualification M.A, M.Sc in any division are capable of admission.

3. FATA or Tribal Areas students having B.A, B.Sc in any division has mandatory to present domicile.

4. Al those fulfilling the above criteria are eligible to submit Rs.9500/- in the form of demand draft or pay order or online submit from any nominated branch of HBL through Challan form provided by the university.

5. In the next semesters, university will send “Continuing Admission Form” with the demand draft in the name of Sarhad University Islamabad.

Mission & Vision

       Mission & Vision

The mission of the Civil Engineering Department of Sarhad University of Science and Information Technology is to impart knowledge through research and modern teaching techniques.

Apart from the teaching mission, the department also aims to produce competent engineers who are able to meet the challenges of the modern world.

The department does not believe on just teaching theory but emphasizes on practical side of civil engineering as well. For this purpose, laboratories are set up which are equipped with state of the art equipments.

Study tours are regularly arranged for the students to make them familiar with the practical implementation of the technology.

The department is also aimed of establishing the research environment. For this purpose, students are assigned different projects in their 7th and 8th semester. Moreover, the faculty members are also busy in their research on different topics.

As the department aims to enhance the quality of life for the people, therefore, the university offers scholarships for those students who show outstanding results in different semesters.
