Pink Ribbon (Breast Awarness Compaign Launched in Sarhad University Peshawar

Pakistan has the highest breast cancer rate in Asia, with one out of 9 women diagnosed with the symptoms of fatal disease. Nearly 90,000 breast cancer cases are reported every year.

It is revealed by the Coordinator, Dr irnam Ambreen Pink Ribbon Campaign in Sarhad University Peshawar. She said this while addressing at a breast cancer awareness campaign held at Sarhad University Peshawar yesterday. She said that Pink Ribbon Campaign will help create awareness among female folk including teachers and students by providing reading material and other information through such activities.

On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dr Salim Ur Rehman said that “ in Pakistan people especially women hesitate to discuss health related issues with their physicians because of cultural norms due to which public health is badly affected at large”. He said that SUIT would continue to extend support for such events like breast cancer awareness campaign in future.
